If you are looking for the best road trip places in Montana, you can’t miss Yellowstone National Park. This is one of the most famous national parks in America and for a good reason. Yellowstone has more geysers than any other national park in the U.S., and some of the most beautiful landscapes. You can easily spend a week or two just exploring the park, but if you are looking to see the best of the best, we recommend visiting Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Both of these attractions are located in the North Yellowstone region of the park. You will want to spend a few days in this area, as some of the most beautiful and unique scenery is found here.
- Blue Ridge Parkway- Virginia
As any trip planner will tell you, the key to taking a great road trip is picking the right destination. And while many of us dream of hitting the open road in hopes of seeing the Grand Canyon or of exploring the beautiful beaches of Florida, many hidden gems are unknown to travelers. One such place is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which many think of only as a scenic drive through the mountains.
- Olympic Peninsula -Washington
The Olympic Peninsula is located on the western side of Washington State, and it is separated from the rest of the state by Puget Sound. The Peninsula is a mountainous peninsula that is surrounded by many inlets and sounds (hence the name). The Olympic Peninsula contains many different state parks and natural areas, plus lots of parks and campgrounds. One of the most popular places to visit on the Olympic Peninsula is Olympic National Park, which is also the largest national park in the continental U.S.
- Historic Columbia river Highway-Oregon
It’s a place where you can do a lot of things in the span of one trip. Imagine only having to drive a few miles to see a waterfall. In the short timeframe that we were there, the number of waterfalls we were able to see was astounding! Historic Columbia River Highway – Oregon is one of those places that you could return to time and time again. When we headed up the mountain and into the Columbia River Gorge, we were surrounded by snow-clad mountain peaks, flowing waterways, rivers, waterfalls, and beautiful valleys.
- Route 66- Chicago to California
Historic Route 66 is one of the most famous roads in the United States. Beginning in Chicago, Illinois, it travels west through Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arizona, and New Mexico before ending in the city of Santa Monica in Los Angeles, California. The route was originally added to road maps in 1925 and ran through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Illinois. (In 1937, it was formally decommissioned in favor of the modern Interstate system.)
